Professor Pan received BSc in Zoology and Biology from Yunnan University, China and PhD in Primatology and Human Biology at University of Western Australia (UWA), Australia in 1987. His academic career went through the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the UWA, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and Northwest University, Xian, China. His research interests include zoology, primate ecology, behavior, evolution and conservation, which have resulted in more than 100 peer-reviewed journal publications with more than 40 scholars in China, Australia, the UK, the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil and South Africa. He is very experienced in establishing and managing international cooperation that led to his meeting with the President of China (right on the photo) in 2007, based on a bilateral international cooperation project between China and South involving 5 universities, research institutes and museums in both countries.
